Jak İhmalyan (İstanbul, 1922 - Moscow, 1978) was forced to go abroad, when as an Armenian communist young painter he was denied the right to life in the Turkey of 1940s. He was known for his paintings that reflected his extraordinary soulful, pristine inner world. When İhmalyan illustrated a book of Nâzım Hikmet, the great poet expressed his admiration for his art: "One day I will write poems so as to be worthy of your paintings." With this book, Jack İhmalyan returns to his country 64 years later.
