The Archaeological Museum is the oldest and largest of the three separate museums which İstanbul Archaeological Museums comlex comprises. It was built about a century before to accommodate the Sidon collection. This spectatular discovery is still displayed in the building. The exterior architecture of the Archaeological Museum also repeats form of one of them, the sarcophagus of mourning women. In time the Archaeological Museum was enlarged and became one of the largest and most important of its kind in the world....
