#smrgSAHAF Trash : Love Lies and Video Trash #2 - 1997
From School Library Journal
Three cool girls
Three cool guys
Who live across the wall one hot unforgettable summer
Grade 6-9. Chelsea, 18, can't believe that someone as "normal" as she would be picked as a summer intern at Trash, a nationally syndicated New York-based TV talk show. She is excited at the prospect of leaving Tennessee, but slightly dismayed at working on a "no holds barred" type of show where anything goes. Chelsea meets the five other high school graduates from across the country who were selected at the same time. The group is quickly thrown into "real life" behind the scenes of a television show and Chelsea is attracted to Nick (the cutest guy) and targeted by Roxanne, a senior intern who seems to hate her. Romance, intrigue, and action are combined to bring a sense of fun and excitement to this novel. While most of the scenarios are too stereotyped to be believable, the fast-paced story line engages readers with contemporary characters and humorous subplots. The authors incorporate the latest trends into this novel and compare the characters to popular stars (Chelsea, a "brainy Alicia Silverstone type"; Lisha, "hotter than Demi Moore"; etc.), which will date it quickly. Ephemeral light series reading.?
