Many bids since long have been made to provide the Armenians with political independence on Turkish soils, but such endeavors have on each and every occasion attempted met with failure and frustration. Those who exhibited themselves astir in the field, those who caused the Armenians to be dragged with themselves under the lure of promises made have all the times been an unconscious instrument manipulated to serve the interests of foreign powers. At all times, we notice Catholics, patriarchs and clergymen having religious sway upon the Armenian community to take the lead in such actions which the dark forces have instigated and which almost always aim at Turkey. Whether consciously or otherwise, the role played in this way by such individuals whom have caused their communities which they had to maintain and safeguard to run after empty illusions weights heavy.

The Armenian Gregorian (Apostolic) Church, beside religious duties it carries on, has outfitted itself with the provision of a national authority. Owing to such a provision, with the claim that it holds a shore in the lifetime of the Armenian community within the historical process, it has played an active role and continues to do so.

The Armenians, whom had been persecuted by the Orthodoxies, their coreligionists, due to sect-related discrepancies, whom had met with a prosperous lifetime at the times of the Seljukian and Ottoman Empires, had initiated terror under the leadership of their churches at the close of the XIXth century. More than two million and a half Muslims, either Turk or Kurd, had been cruelly slain by terrorist mobs under the command of the Armenian clergymen. (From Preamble)
