Bu kitabın amacı Eski Türk run alfabesiyle yazılmış yazıtlara ilişkin »okuma becerisi« kazanmak isteyen herkese yardım etmektir. Kitap taş anıtların tarihi çerçevesi üzerine bilgiler yanında, okuma bölümünde Köl Tegin, Tonyukuk, Yenisey ve Terhin yazıtlarından verilen örnek metinlerin tek tek ögelerini açıklayan kısa bir dilbilgisi içermektedir.

The intention of this book is to help everybody who is interested in reaching a »reading ability« of texts written in the Old Turkish runes. Informations about the historical background of the stone monuments are included as well as a short grammar which illustrates individual elements of the texts in the reading section. The examples are choosen out of Köl Tegin, Tonyukuk, Yen issey and Terhin inscriptions.
