Among the detailed illustrations are architectural and panoramic views, maps, and depictions of social customs and of the costumes and paraphernalia of the Ottoman court and military establishment. Istanbul: Capital of Empires is truly a collector's item intended for the serious bibliophile. 200 pages measuring 48 by 33.5 cms, it is offered in two different specially-bound versions. One is a very limited edition that is exquisitely bound in embossed leather and presented in a slipcase covered in an Ottoman-style velvet woven in Venice. The other is bound in Suedel, a velvet-like material.
