The international congress on “Yemen during the Ottoman Era” was organized by the National Archives of Yemen and IRCICA under the patronage of the President of Yemen H.E. Ali Abdullah Saleh, in Sana'a, on 16-17 December 2009. The congress dwelt upon a variety of topics ranging from state policies of development and administration to cultural, economic, and social life and international relations of Yemen during the Ottoman period. In addition to presenting research results, the participants also discussed issues of perspective and methodology and underlined the importance of basing the studies on first-hand archival sources to the possible extent.
Other publications related to Yemen came out from IRCICA's different activity programs. An album of one hundred-year-old photographs of Yemen selected from IRCICA's archives and titled The Friendship Between Turkey and Yemen Throughout History was published in 2011.
