Recent excavations at the site of Orman Fidanlığı just outside the city of Eskişehir have not only introduced the hitherto unknown ‘Porsuk Culture' to the literature, but have also proved of great benefit in elucidating the early phases of the Chalcolithic Period in inland northwestern Anatolia. The finds in and their analysis published in this final report enable us to correlate more accurately the prehistoric sequences of the Balkans and Anatolian cultures and thus interpret the emergence of the Vinca Culture in southeast Europe on a much broader perspective.
