Two quite presentable matching first impression tight hardbacks.The books have the original dark blue cloth covers with gilt titles on the spine and the title impressed on the lower corner of the front covers and there is a wide line impressed inward from the top and bottom edge. The spines have clear very slightly dulled gilt titles and the stars indicating the third and fourth volume of the series. There is an owner's (John Harvey) book label on the inside of the front covers. The text is generally crisp and clean apart from foxing on early and late pages (Those prior to the text proper and the index & appendix pages) and at the page margins . Volume three = Part 1 - 292 pages, 22 maps as plates and in text. Volume four = Part two pp ix, 293 -589 including an index , 17 in-text and plate maps. .
